Delamination of Ocular Prostheses

Delamination occurs in an ocular prosthesis when the two halves of the material are not properly bonded to each other...If you wear a prosthetic eye and see delamination in the prosthesis, you should see your ocularist immediately.

There are many valid causes of delamination, but in my particular case it was due to the improper tightening of the compensating press.

Conclusion: Don't over-tighten the press but don't under-tighten it either. I would think about purchasing a desktop hydraulic press and a torque wrench to make sure everything is tightened properly.
